Exports rise nearly 4 pct to $20 billion in January

Türkiye's exports increased by 3.6 percent in January from a year ago to more than $20 billion, the data from the Trade Ministry have shown.

Imports were down 22 percent compared to the first month of last year to $26.2 billion.

The country's foreign trade deficit shrank 56.8 percent year-on-year to $6.17 billion.

Foreign trade deficit shrunk nearly 50 percent in September

Türkiye's foreign trade came in at $5 billion in September, pointing to a 47.8 percent decline from a year ago, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.

Exports fell 0.5 percent year-on-year to $22.49 billion, and the annual decline in imports was 14.6 percent to $27.5 billion.

Agriculture and food exports generate $12.2 billion in revenue

Türkiye's agriculture, food and drinks industry has generated a total of $12.23 billion in export revenues in the first six months of 2023.

The industry's imports, on the other hand, amounted to $12.46 billion, according to the Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations (TGDF).

Export and imports rose 1 percent and nearly 18 percent, respectively, from a year ago.

Foreign trade deficit down 34.5 percent

Türkiye's foreign trade deficit has dropped by 34.5 percent in June, according to data announced on July 3 by the Trade Ministry.

"Despite the weak course of production and foreign trade in the world economy and the effect of the nine-day holiday of Eid al-Adha, our monthly exports in June amounted to $20.9 billion," the ministry said in statement.
