Turkey's foreign trade gap drops 46 pct amid oil plunge

Turkey's foreign trade deficit declined by 46.6 percent to $3.7 billion in September compared to the same month of 2014 due to a dramatic decline in the country's energy imports and a slowdown in the economy ahead of the elections, according to data released by the Turkish Statistics Agency (TÜ?K) on Oct. 30 in cooperation with the Customs and Trade Ministry. 

Foreign retail chains leave Turkey amid rise in competitiveness in local players

Turkish retail chain Be?endik, which bought 12 stores of Europe's supermarket chain last year, plans to complete the acquisition of 10 Tesco Kipa stores in Turkey by the fourth quarter, as many foreign retail chains have left Turkey in recent years as they had difficulties competing with local players.

A man proposed to his girlfriend on an easyJet flight from Manchester to Mykonos. Love was in the air as Kevin Christie, aged 41, popped the question to Kamila Maier, a woman more than half his age.
He requested use of the intercom from the flight attendant who introduced Christie at the front of the plane to the amusement of 200 other passengers.
