Bulgaria has experienced a significant decline in the number of students enrolled in secondary schools over the past two decades.

Turkey's college graduates lag behind even Japanese high school dropouts, according to Turkish Education Association's (TED) think tank TEDMEM's "2016 Education Evaluation Report."  

The level of education of a university graduate in Turkey is lower than a high school dropout in Japan, the findings of the report showed. 

Turkey is one of the countries with the lowest spending per student, according to a report prepared by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The report titled "Education at a Glance 2016" stated that Turkey's public expenditures for primary and secondary education were below the OECD average.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has said teachers' salaries in Turkey were below the average of those in OECD member states, stressing that seniority and teaching experience in Turkey were not well reflected in wages.
