Columbia University Center to open this year in Athens
The opening of the Athens Columbia University Global Center (ACGC) continue to draw nearer, with Education Minister Niki Kerameus participating Tuesday in a teleconference between administrations of Greek universities, Executive VP for Columbia Global Wafaa El-Sadr and faculty heads from the New York institution.

Winter break begins for nearly 19 million students
Nearly 19 million students in Türkiye, studying in preschools, primary, secondary and high schools, have begun their two-week half-term break after completing their first semester and receiving their mid-term report cards on Jan. 20.
The first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year started on Sept. 12, 2022, and students and teachers will return to classes on Feb. 6.

Greece has the oldest university lecturers in Europe and the fewest aged under 35, according to a recent report by the National Authority for Higher Education (EThAAE). More specifically, of the 17,049 permanent lecturers at Greek universities, more than half are over 50.
