Eid al-Fitr

Travelers and vacationers' spending is expected to be around 100 billion Turkish Liras during the upcoming nine-day Eid holiday, according to Firuz Bağlıkaya, the president of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).

In view of the preparations for Ramadan, the Yeni Mosque, an Ottoman monument in Thessaloniki which hosts various cultural activities, will for the first time be granted to Muslims for prayers during Eid al-Fitr on April 10. The Suleymaniye Mosque on Rhodes will also be given for Eid prayers. 

The decision was announced on Wednesday by the General Secretariat of Religious Affairs.

Türkiye is immersed in the celebrations of Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant Muslim holidays that mark the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and hold immense religious importance, second only to Eid al-Fitr.

Millions of people hit the roads across the country on April 23 to return home from coastal provinces or their hometowns where they spent the three-day-long Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The holiday of Eid al-Fitr ushered in a day of prayers and joy for Muslims around the world on Friday. The celebration was marred by tragedy amid the explosion of conflict in Sudan, while in other countries it came against the backdrop of hopes for a better future.

As violence in Sudan enters day seven, the country's paramilitary force Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has announced a 72-hour ceasefire starting from Friday, Al Jazeera reported.

President Rumen Radev congratulates the representatives of the Muslim faith in Bulgaria on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This was announced by the presidential press office.

According to reports, the ceasefire came into effect today at 6 a.m. local time and coincides with the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, reports Reuters.
"The truce coincides with the blessed Eid al-Fitr... in order to open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of citizens and give them the opportunity to greet their families," Rapid Support Force said in a statement.

Türkiye has come together in solidarity with quake victims to mark the occasion of Eid-Al Fitr, as the three-day holiday begins on April 21 with the ending of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Also celebrated as the "Candy Festival" in Türkiye, Eid is a public holiday during which people traditionally visit their families and friends and offer meals and desserts.
