Muslims around the globe are celebrating Eid al-Fitr holiday this Wednesday, April 10, marking the conclusion of Ramadan, the islamic sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Deaths due to road accidents during the Eid al-Fitr holiday declined by 61 percent this year, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said.

Even though the Eid holiday has already ended, and many people returned to their home towns, police units will remain on duty to conduct traffic inspections until the end of the week, the minister wrote on Twitter.

The Bulgarian head of state Rumen Radev congratulates the representatives of the Muslim faith in the country on the occasion of the holiday of Eid Mubarak (Kurban Bayramı). This was announced by the press office of the head of state.

 "I sincerely wish your homes and loved ones to be blessed with health, well-being and prosperity," the president said in his address.

Turkey is celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and the second most important religious festivity after Eid al-Fitr.

For the second year in a row, millions of people across Turkey are marking the holiday under the shadow of the pandemic, but with lighter protective measures compared to last year.

Fifty people lost their lives in road accidents across Turkey this year during Eid al-Adha, the Interior Ministry has said.

Thousands of people in need around the world have received meat from animals sacrificed for Eid al-Adha by Turkish aid agencies.

Millions of people across Turkey have hit the roads to spend the Eid al-Adha holiday with their families in other parts of the country or in resort towns.

Some 73 people lost their lives and 754 people were injured on the roads during the first eight days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Some 23 people were killed in road accidents across Turkey during the first three days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday this year, June 1-3, the Interior Ministry has announced.

Hundreds of Africans gathered  in the Turkish capital Ankara to celebrate Eid al-Adha on Aug. 22.
