Turkey calls on UN to be active for Rohingya

Turkey has called on the United Nations to play a more dynamic role against the ongoing violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine state. 

"The United Nations should be more active in this issue," Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım told reporters on Sept. 1 after performing Eid al-Adha prayers at the Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul. 

Muslims Around the World Celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslims around the world honor Eid al-Adha, one of the greatest holidays in Islam. The celebrations began on Thursday, with a total of four days. The holiday is related to family values ​​and symbolizes humility and forgiveness.

Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is the greatest religious holiday for Muslims. Celebrations usually take three days.

Turkey's Eid al-Adha holiday extended to 10 days

The Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) holiday has been extended to 10 days in Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ said on Aug. 15, speaking after a cabinet meeting.

According to the cabinet decision, the Eid al-Adha holiday will start on Aug. 28 and end on Sept. 3. 

Bozdağ also said that state retirement payments will be made on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.
