President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Aug. 11 that the government was reviewing the 10-day extension of the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), adding that such an extension would be "felicitous" for tourism.

Aug. 31, a Thursday, will be the eve of Eid al-Adha, which will continue for the next four days. Turkey also marks the public holiday of Victory Day on Aug. 30.

People who stayed in Istanbul during the Eid al-Fitr holiday flocked to nearby beaches to take advantage of the hot weather.

The Education and Religious Affairs Ministry has announced that the capital's Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) in Neo Faliro and the Olympic Stadium (OAKA) in Maroussi will be made available for Muslims wishing to celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, next week.

Groups wishing to use the facilities should forward applications in writing to the board of SEF or OAKA.
