Bulgaria’s Prime Minister: Government Allocates BGN 65 Million for Safe Elections

The upcoming parliamentary elections on 4 April will cost the state budget over BGN 65 million.

"In order to ensure fair and transparent elections, today we are allocating BGN 65,251,000 for various election activities," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during the regular sitting of the Council of Ministers.

3 Parties Want a Machine Vote only for Presidential and European Elections

Deputies from GERB, "United Patriots" and "Volya" undertake a legislative initiative to change the Electoral Code, which proposes to abolish the possibility of a machine vote in local and parliamentary elections. The news was announced by the chairwoman of the legal commission and GERB member Anna Alexandrova at a briefing in the parliament, BGNES reported.

Central Electoral Commission Received Another BGN 9 million For the Machine Vote

The government also allocated an additional BGN 9 million to the Central Electoral Commission to secure the machine vote for the upcoming elections to the European Parliament on 26 May.

They will cover additional costs for the CEC to ensure machine vote during the European elections.
