Scorching heat posing risks to power generation

Türkiye, like in other parts of the world, is roasting in a dangerous heatwave that experts warn may affect the country's electricity production.

On July 14, electricity consumption hit more than 1 million kWh, which marked a record consumption for a single day, as households and businesses increased their use of air conditioners to cool off.

Power distribution companies invest 15 bln Turkish Liras

Electricity distribution companies collectively invested 14.7 billion Turkish Liras in 2021, up 57 percent from a year ago, according to a report by the Association of Electricity Distribution System Operators (ELDER).

Investments made by 21 distribution companies in power grids amounted to 11.45 billion liras, capturing the largest share.

Turkey breaks power consumption record on stifling hot day

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 16.1 percent on June 28 compared to the previous day, reaching 988,379 megawatt hours, according to official figures released by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ) yesterday.

The hourly power consumption peaked at 48,954 megawatt hours at 3 p.m. local time, data from TEİAŞ showed.

Romania's electricity consumption down 7.1 pct in H1, exports double

Romania's electricity consumption in H1 2020 amounted to 25.7 TWh, by 7.1 percent less from the same period of the year before, while imports were twice as high, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) informed today. Electricity consumption in the economy, ie of industrial consumers, registered the steepest decline of 10 percent, while household consumption was by 2 percent higher.
