Trains, suburban railway to operate normally on Tuesday
Trains and the suburban railway will not participate in a 24-hour strike of employees in public transport on Tuesday, called in protest at the government's social security bill.
The planned full-day strike in the tram, metro, ISAP railway, trolley or bus service is expected to cause major traffic in Athens.
Thessaloniki metro project said to be finally on track
Greece's northern port city of Thessaloniki will have its own metro system ready by 2023, General Secretary of Public Works Giorgos Karayiannis said Thursday during a worksite inspection.
Syntagma metro station to close down Sunday
The Syntagma metro station will close down at 9.30 a.m. Sunday "at the suggestion of the police and to ensure the passengers' safety," metro operator Stasy (Urban Rail Transport SA) has announced.
An anti-migration rally will take place at Syntagma Square.

Artifacts to be removed as Attiko Metro says in situ plan was unreliable
Greece's Central Archaeological Council (KAS) on Thursday decided to remove the antiquities unearthed during excavation work for the Thessaloniki metro, as Attiko Metro told KAS in a report obtained by Kathimerini that the original plan to keep the artifacts in situ was not reliable.

After a lengthy meeting that went on until Thursday morning, the Culture Ministry's Central Archaeological Council (KAS) decided to remove the antiquities unearthed during excavation work for the Thessaloniki metro.
Athens metro workers call five-hour stoppage on Tuesday
Workers on the Athens metro will be walking off the job from the start of their shift until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, stranding morning commuters.
The workers' union said that walk-out should be regarded by the management of operator STASY as a "warning" that may lead to additional strikes.
Transport inspections are boosted to stop fare dodgers
Inspections are being increased on buses and trolley-buses in an attempt by the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) to boost revenues as transport authority data suggest that one in 20 people commute without a ticket.

After weeks of stoppages, transport staff are expected to call off any further action after a breakthrough in talks with authorities on Tuesday.
According to Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kostas A. Karamanlis, staff objections over a collective labor contract for this year have been addressed following consultations with the General Accounting Office.
