Energy regulator to probe power prices
The wholesale electricity market has not been running smoothly and authorities are concerned that exorbitant price rises may find their way onto consumers' bills.
A month after the so-called "target model" to determine wholesale electricity prices was introduced in Greece, prices have more than tripled, prompting the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE) to intervene.

Electricity demand in Turkey ‘alarmingly’ low: Association
Electricity generation at natural gas plants has decreased dramatically due to decline in demand, Electricity Producers Association head Cem Aşık said on April 23.
"We expect a decrease of 20 percent in demand this month. The decrease in demand will be 17 percent in May and 4 percent in June, according to our estimates," he said.
Bulgaria Becomes Part of the Common European Electricity Market
Bulgaria joins the common European electricity market, the Electricity System Operator announced. Together with Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovenia, Bulgaria will now be involved in unifying the electricity markets.
So far, there were 14 European countries involved in the union.
The first deliveries are planned for November 20 this year.
Price of electricity in Serbia to go up starting December 1
Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said electricity will be more expensive starting December, to be calculated in the January electricity bills.
According to him, the price of electricity for the industry will not go up.
Antic said for RTS that there had been no corrections in electricity prices for more than two years.
PPC is losing customers after rate hike
The hike in electricity rates by Public Power Corporation has increased competition among alternative suppliers, as an increasing trend has been observed of customers abandoning PPC for private providers over the last month that the increase has applied - even though it has yet to appear on bills.

Romania's primary energy supply, up 1pct, Jan.-May, 2019; electricity supply, down 4.5pct
Romania's primary energy supply increased by 1.0pct, while electricity supply declined 4.5pct, both in the first five months of 2019, year-over-year, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The main primary energy supply January 1 - May 31, 2019 totalled 14.406 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up 147,100 toe from the same period of 2018.
KEVR Approved Electricity Prices for Customers of EVN Bulgaria from 1 July 2019
In its decision № CC-19 dated July 1, 2019, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) approved new electricity prices for household and non-residential customers connected to a low-voltage grid in Southeastern Bulgaria in force since 01.07.2019.
According to the KEVR's Decision, the final VAT rates for household customers in Southeast Bulgaria are as follows:
KEVR Will Have Meeting on the Gas Price in Bulgaria
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission will hold an open gas price meeting for the third quarter.
At the request of Bulgargaz, the price may fall slightly - by about 1%. This will affect suppliers and customers connected to the gas network.
By the end of June, KEVR should also announce the price of electricity and heating. However, an increase is expected for them.
