The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) adopted a decision approving the implementation of the technical blockchain solution in the Computer System for monitoring turnout and preventing illegal voting (SIMPV) and in the Computer System for centralizing data from the minutes regarding the recording of the voting results (SICPV).

The Council of Ministers on February 12 voted to approve the introduction of voting machine in every polling station at the next parliamentary elections. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also expressed support for the voting machines.

The fact that the diaspora voting went so smoothly proves that a civic exercise of such amplitude only succeeds through the combined efforts of authorities, citizens and the civil society, shows a release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), on Monday sent to AGERPRES.

The voting abroad in the presidential election runoff ended with the closing of the last polling stations on the West Coast of the United States of America and Canada, at 21:00hrs, local (7:00hrs Romania's time).

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) informs that the Electoral Register has been updated both through data imports from the Directorate for Persons' Record and Data Base Administration and from the Passports Directorate General, as well as through persons cross-offs conducted within mayoralties.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has completed on Monday the delivery to the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad of the materials necessary for voting abroad in the second round of the presidential election.

Electioneering campaign for the second round of the presidential election started on Friday, at 12:00hrs am, to end will end on Saturday, November 23, at 07:00hrs.

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said on Monday that the government will request the Central Electoral Bureau to secure the number of members in the electoral bureaus of the polling stations in case the representatives of the political parties that no longer have candidates in the presidential runoff do not show up at the polling station.

The polling stations for the presidential election opened on Sunday to more than 18 million Romanian voters. Nationwide, there are 18,748 polling stations. According to the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), the total number of voters registered with the permanent electoral lists is 18,217,156 for this election.

The polling stations in Italy, Spain, France and Germany are open, over 7,000 persons already turning out to the polls abroad. A little after 13:00 hrs, over 7,000 Romanians have already voted on additional lists. This figure is supplemented by the approximately 25,200 votes by correspondence received, according to the portal of the Central Electoral Bureau.
