No. of new coronavirus cases keeps dropping

Ljubljana – A total of 260 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovenia on Friday, almost 50% fewer than a week ago. The National Institute of Public Health estimates that there are now 4,974 active cases in the country, a daily drop of 297. Both the 7-day average of new cases and the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 people dropped, to 298 and 235, respectively.

Road haulage exceeded pre-pandemic levels in 2021

Ljubljana – After dipping in 2020 due to coronavirus and lockdowns, Slovenian road haulage surged in 2021 to exceed pre-pandemic levels, Statistics Office data show. Lorries registered in Slovenia carried 98.9 million tonnes of goods and performed 25 billion tonne-kilometres, respectively up by 9% and 10%.

More than half of the jobless long-term unemployed

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s jobless total dropped to some 60,000 in March in what is the second lowest figure on record, but only 16-17% of the registered unemployed were directly employable. As many as 56% of them are long-term unemployed, an issue that poses a challenge for the authorities. The jobless total is near the all-time low recorded in September 2008.

Minister addresses business conference Texas Feels Slovenia

Dallas – Public Administration Minister Boštjan Koritnik on Friday addressed the opening of a business and investment conference Texas Feels Slovenia as part of his visit to the US. According to the ministry, a number of potential US business partners and investors attended the conference.

Number of registered cars in Slovenia up 1.6% in 2021

Ljubljana – The number of registered cars in 2021 was just shy of 1.2 million, an increase of 1.6% compared to 2019. Hybrid cars experienced the most prominent rise, well over 160%. The car fleet renewal rate was low due to a high number of new registrations of used cars. Last year, the number of newly registered cars reached 88.235, an increase of 8.9% compared to the year before.

Covid daily case count dips to one-month low

Ljubljana – Another 899 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Saturday, down 28% from the same day a week ago, as the coronavirus case count keeps falling. This is the lowest daily tally of infections since early March. The National Institute of Public Health estimates 36,740 people are actively infected in the country, down 613 from the estimate on the previous day.

Covid-19 remains in retreat

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,358 new coronavirus cases on Friday, almost a fifth fewer than a week ago as the decline continues for the ninth day running, data from the National Institute of Public Health shows. The 7-day average is now at 2,453, down by 76 from the day before, and the 14-day notification rate per 100,000 of the population declined by an additional 39 to 1,770.
