Covid pass abolished for most activities as of Monday
Ljubljana – Covid pass will no longer be required in Slovenia as of Monday, except in healthcare and social care institutions, and in prisons, Health Minister Janez Poklukar told the press after today’s correspondence session of the government. Students at schools will no longer need to self test either.
Daily coronavirus count falls to 4,716
Ljubljana – A total of 4,716 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Tuesday, only two thirds of the case count the day before and 7% down from the bank holiday a week ago. According to the National Institute of Public Health, the 14-day incidence per 100,000 fell by 923 to 5,517 and the seven-day average of new cases declined by 57 to 6,658.

Hackers breach POP TV personal data
Ljubljana – The scope of the cyberattack that broadcaster POP TV suffered on 8 February is becoming clear. The company has revealed hackers gained access to some personal data of individuals recruited for its shows, visitors to live shows, and personnel recruitment data. The hackers have not publicly disclosed the data as yet.

Tušmobil case statute barred
Ljubljana – The case of Tušmobil focusing on the telecoms company’s acquisition of mobile telephony spectrum free of charge in 2006 and 2008, has become statute barred for all suspects, including former Tušmobil owner Mirko Tuš and the regulator’s ex-director Tomaž Simonič.

Number of new coronavirus cases keeps dropping
Ljubljana – A total of 4,257 new coronavirus cases were logged in Slovenia on Saturday, a drop of over 3,000 from Friday as well as from a week ago, data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) shows. Government data shows that seven infected patients died yesterday.

Slovenian households better off in 2021
Ljubljana – Slovenian households enjoyed a more comfortable life money-wise last year with official statistics showing the percentage of those who can make ends meet with ease rising by nine percentage points to 29%. Eight out of ten (81%) could afford a week-long holiday away from home, which could largely be attributed to tourism vouchers.

Almost 750,000 e-vignettes sold so far
Ljubljana – Slovenia having switched to e-vignettes on 1 February, the motorway company DARS has so far sold 748,800 e-vignettes, 91% of them annual. It has checked more than 100,000 vehicles to find over 5,000 suspected violations. In 1,356 of them the suspicion has been confirmed and the rest are yet to be checked.

Some 7,500 Covid cases confirmed on Thursday
Ljubljana – A total of 7,514 people tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, the lowest daily figure since mid-January, not taking into account weekends or public holidays, show fresh official data. The week-on-week drop in infections thus continues.

Just over 5,000 new coronavirus cases logged on Culture Day
Ljubljana – A total of 5,076 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Tuesday, a public holiday. The figure is significantly below the over 11,00 cases reported for the day before or over 23,000 logged a week ago in an all-time high.

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 11,098 new cases of coronavirus for Monday, down about 5% over the week before and the continuation of a declining trend that has now persisted for five consecutive days.
