Bulgaria's Parliament on March 23 voted to approve the President's veto on the State of Emergency Measures Act. The law was passed on March 13 and provided for regulating the measures and actions during the month-long state of emergency introduced in connection with the coronavirus epidemic, BNT reported.

The National Assembly passed the State of Emergency Measures Act. The state of emergency was declared by virtue of resolution on 13 March. My decision is to impose a veto on part of the act and to return it for a reconsideration in the Bulgarian Parliament, the presidential press office reported.

Bulgaria's Parliament on March 18 adopted the State of Emergency Measures Act at first reading. 129 MPs voted in favour and 70 abstained.

The law sets out the measures taken during the state of emergency to limit the spread of coronavirus.

President Klaus Iohannis stated on Tuesday, in a video conference with Prime Minister Ludovic Orban and the ministers responsible for managing the COVID-19 epidemic, that the state of emergency is for 30 days, and that the measures must be taken very fast.
