Child, 8, drowns while on holiday in Crete
An 8-year-old girl from Israel drowned while on holiday with her family on the Greek island of Crete, local media reported on Thursday, saying the incident took place at around 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The child drowned in the swimming pool of the hotel where the family was staying in the resort town of Hersonissos in Iraklio. Her parents and other guests were unable to save her.

French tourist stabbed to death in Crete
A 53-year-old French tourist has been murdered at a hotel on the island of Crete, local police authorities said Tuesday.
The man, who was on holiday with his female companion in the seaside resort of Tsoutsouros in southern Crete, reportedly died from multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Panic buttons will be fitted in 400 new ambulances of the emergency medical services in the country. The plan is to improve safety and allow quick response in the events of attack on medical teams, Bulgaria's Minister of Health said on 28th of January, reports BNT.

Workers bemoan ambulance crew shortages on islands
Workers of the National Health Service (ESY) are warning of a shortage of ambulances and staff on the Greek islands at the height of the tourist season.
In an announcement, the national union of public hospital workers (POEDIN) said the number of staff on the islands is not enough to cover the needs of a 24-hour ambulance service.
