Turkey's first lady visits new refugee camp on Syrian border

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an?s wife Emine Erdo?an visited a refugee camp in Suruç, a town in the southeastern province of ?anl?urfa, to mark the official opening of the facility.

The camp hosts Syrian Kurds who have fled their homes in Kobane on the Turkish border after attacks by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who had besieged the town for around five months.

Turkey’s main opposition deputy removed from party after controversial speech

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Süheyl Batum has been removed from the party due to a speech he made after the resignation of former CHP deputy Emine Ülker Tarhan.

CHP Eskişehir deputy Batum was removed from the CHP by the party’s High Discipline Board on Dec. 11, over his speech in late October.

Turkish PM names 'innovative' professor as chief economy adviser

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has named Boğaziçi University Professor Emine Nur Günay, who is a renowned innovation and trade specialist, as his chief economy adviser.

Günay, known for her work in innovation-based growth and joint projects with Turkish companies of various sizes, is a member of the teaching roster of Boğaziçi University’s International Trade Department.
