The French president Emmanuel Macron has vowed to lead a "rebuilding" of the European Union, warning that "sovereignty, democracy and trust are in danger" and that its citizens no longer understand the project, reported The Guardian. 

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday accompanied French President Emmanuel Macron to the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center where the two men were to chair a meeting of Greek and French entrepreneurs.

On the second day of his official visit to Greece, flanked by around 40 French entrepreneurs, Macron was expected to repeat his interest in France investing in Greece's recovery.

Standing at a Greek site where democracy was conceived, French President Emmanuel Macron called on members of the European Union to reboot the 60-year-old bloc with sweeping political reforms or risk a "slow disintegration."
