Hunting the critically endangered Anatolian leopard will result in a 1.2 million Turkish Liras fine, the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks announced.
Beer cans bear witness to animal extinction
Slovenian microbrewery Bevog and the National Institute of Biology have joined forces to raise awareness of endangered animal species. Bevog is rolling out a limited collection of beer in cans depicting animals at risk of extinction to support research of endangered grassland ecosystems with a donation to the institute.

Sick white tiger cub found under dumpster
An animal park in Athens on Wednesday said it had found a rare white tiger cub under a garbage bin nine days ago.
Attica Zoological Park said the four-month-old female cub was paralysed from the waist down.

More than 200 bears culled in 2022
Slovenia has one the largest brown bear populations in Europe and it is not uncommon to spot one walking in the woods or even in settled areas. Like the wolf and the lynx, the brown bear is a protected species, but the population is managed by culling. Last year, 206 bears were culled.

Rescued caretta swims 600 kilometers
A Caretta caretta that was struggling for life as it had ingested plastic debris, causing it gastrointestinal problems, has been released into the sea after getting treatment for one-and-a-half years and has traveled 600 kilometers (372 miles) since then.
