Turkey’s wind power capacity exceeds 10,000 MW threshold

Turkey's installed wind energy capacity reached 10,010 megawatts (MW) as of Aug. 8, according to data Turkey's Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ) released on Aug. 10.

The country's installed electricity capacity reached 98,800 MW, while clean electricity capacity totaled 51,900 MW during the January to July period of this year.

Energy import bill up 131 pct in June 2021

Turkey's energy import bill increased by 131 percent to $3.63 billion in June this year compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on July 30.

The overall energy import bill soared last month due to an increase in the country's industrial production.

Turkey to launch its first floating LNG storage and gasification vessel

The inauguration ceremony of Turkey's first publicly-owned floating LNG storage and gasification vessel (FSRU) "Ertuğrul Gazi" will be held on June 25, presided over by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez announced on June 23.

SOCAR signals potential cooperation with Turkish Petroleum in Black Sea

Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) could work together in field development and production of Turkey's giant gas discovery in the Black Sea, Vagif Aliyev, deputy chairman of SOCAR Turkey told reporters.

SOCAR has been investing and collaborating with Turkish Petroleum Corporation since 1994.

Turkey to open 'Black Sea Gas Contract' for future trade by Oct 1

Turkey's gas discovery of 540 billion cubic meters (bcm) with a market value over $100 billion will be open for trading under the name 'Black Sea Gas Contract' in Turkey's future gas market which will launch on Oct. 1 in Istanbul, Mustafa Yılmaz, head of Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) told Anadolu Agency on June 9.
