Energy efficiency saves Turkey $1 bln between 2017-2019
Energy efficiency measures and investments saved Turkey $1 billion between 2017-2019, according to Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez on Wednesday.
Total inflow to Turkish gas system up 6.38 pct in 2020
Natural gas inflow to Turkey's gas network saw a year-on-year increase of around 6.38 percent to 50 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2020, according to data from the Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ).
In 2019, around 47 bcm of natural gas was carried through the Turkish natural gas system.
Turkey seeks gas discount and flexible contracts
The expiry of long-term, oil-indexed natural gas contracts at the end of 2021 offers Turkey an opportunity to negotiate more competitive gas prices based on more flexible terms, particularly with Russia.

Nuke plant construction ‘continuing as planned’
The construction works for the first nuclear power plant of Turkey is continuing as planned and its first unit will start operations in 2023, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez has said.
"In Akkuyu, things are running as planned," Dönmez said during a webinar organized by Sabancı Üniversity's Istanbul International Center for Energy and Climate (IICEC) yesterday.

Energy import bill down more than 4 percent
Turkey's energy import bill declined by 4.2 percent from 2018 to stand at $41.18 billion in 2019, state-run Anadolu Agency calculated from Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) data.
In 2018, Turkey spent some $43 billion on energy imports.

First billion cubic meters of gas supplied via TurkStream
Gazprom supplied its first billion cubic meters of gas via the TurkStream gas pipeline, the company announced on Jan. 27.
The Russian company said that of that amount, about 54 percent went to the Turkish gas market while the remaining 46 percent was delivered to the Turkey-Bulgaria border.
