Life Art Media Festival | Athens | July 10-12
The LifeArt Global Media Festival 2017 is an initiative inspired by the vision of the late filmmaker Michael Cacoyannis, and starts on Monday, July 10, with the screening of a spectacular National Geographic documentary on climate change. "Before the Flood" is directed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Fisher Stevens and produced by Martin Scorsese.

Minions Have Made Some People Very, Very Rich
This weekend, Despicable Me 3 will premiere in more U.S. theaters than any other movie in history. As Variety reports, 4,529 theaters will show the film. The movie is the fourth release in the franchise that first introduced the freaky little yellow monsters known as Minions to the world in 2010.

Sexy Beast | Athens | June 30
The 7th Athens Open Air Film Festival is hosting a classic movie night on Friday, June 30. Jonathan Glazer's 2000 gangster-comedy "Sexy Beast" features electrifying performances by Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone. The screening will take place at the Alsos Petralonon basketball field, starting at 9.30 p.m., and admission is free of charge.

Oscar-winning actor Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, who starred in Gangs of New York and Last of the Mohicans, has retired.
A statement issued through the 60-year-old star’s agent said he “will no longer be working as an actor”.
It said it was a “private decision” and he was “immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences”.

John Avildsen, director of Rocky and The Karate Kid, dies aged 81
John G Avildsen, who directed hugely successful underdog fables Rocky and The Karate Kid, has died at age 81.
Avildsen’s son Anthony said his father died on Friday (local time) in Los Angeles from pancreatic cancer.
