Enlargement of NATO

"Ukraine has de facto become a member of NATO, and this reality may soon be shaped legally." Such confidence was expressed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, in an interview with the Russian edition of the BBC.

Nearly half of Finns are against the creation of permanent NATO bases in their country, Anadolu Agency reported, citing local media.

About 39% of Finns support the creation of permanent NATO bases, YLE TV reports, citing a new survey by MTV TV.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Oct. 26 he would go to Türkiye "in the near future" to discuss Finland and Sweden's nearly completed process to join the military alliance.

"I have always said that Russia is currently a risk to our national security. There is no other opinion on the matter. But for now, there is no direct threat that involes Bulgaria, as well as NATO, in a military conflict."

This was stated today by the acting Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov to Bulgarian journalists in Brussels.

This will be the first meeting of defense ministers since the NATO summit in Madrid in June and the first that Finland and Sweden will attend as countries invited to join the Alliance.

NATO Secretary General added that this would "open the way to further Russian aggression".

New legislation introduced into the US Senate aims to support economic development in the Western Balkans through initiatives on infrastructure, trade and anti-corruption, including codification of sanctions to deter destabilizing activity. The US Senate approved a resolution ratifying the protocols for the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO after the historic decision of these two countries to renounce their neutrality due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, "AFP" reported.

Ljubljana – The National Assembly endorsed on Thursday the bill ratifying the NATO accession protocols for Finland and Sweden. Only the coalition Left reiterated its opposition to NATO enlargement and advocacy of Slovenia’s quitting the alliance, voting against.

Ljubljana – The parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee discussed on Wednesday a bill to ratify the protocols on Finland and Sweden’s accession to NATO and decided to propose to the National Assembly to pass it. The committee proposed that the bill be discussed at an emergency session on Thursday.
