Complaint lodged against Greece over hydrocarbon extraction

Three environmental groups have filed a formal complaint with the European Commission against Greece about hydrocarbon extraction. They argue that Greece is licensing exploration and extraction in marine areas off Crete and in the Ionian Sea without first assessing the serious repercussions on the environment and wildlife.

Financial aid for SMEs in tourism

The new cycle of subsidies for tourism investments has begun, only this time it excludes business plans on Mykonos and Santorini.

Government extracts regulation of gas supply from energy law

Ljubljana – The government confirmed on Thursday a bill that extracts the field of gas supply from the umbrella energy law and regulates it independently, with the additional provisions dealing with emergency measures and implementation of the solidarity mechanism of aid to EU member states in the case of gas supply disruptions.

NGOs lambast planned environmental law changes

Ljubljana – Environmental NGOs warn that proposed changes to the environmental protection and spatial planning acts would exclude them from key relevant procedures and scrap legislative safeguards. Without the latter an irreparable damage could be caused regarding the environment and public health, they said Tuesday.
