US embassy to cooperate with local environmental protection organization

Greek environmental organization Ecogenia announced on Wednesday its upcoming collaboration with the US Embassy in Greece within the framework of the "From California to Olympus" project, focusing on mobilizing young people to build it climate resilience at local level in the country, in a period when the climate crisis and natural disasters are a matter of the highest priority for Greece

Lights out on Acropolis for Earth Hour

The lights on the Acropolis, Presidential Mansion, Parliament and other public buildings were switched off on Saturday evening to mark Earth Hour.

Organised by WWF, this year's event was dedicated to the forest, after the hottest year on record worldwide and the destruction of 120,000 hectares of woodland in Greece in last summer's fires.

Sofia's Low-Emission Zone Discontinued: What a Waste

Today marks the end of an "era" for Sofia's low-emission zone, which ceases to operate after being introduced on December 1 last year. The zone, encompassing the central area of the city known as the "small ring," covered key thoroughfares such as "Vasil Levski" and "Patriarch Evtimii" boulevards, along with streets like "Gen. Skobelev," "Oplchenska," and "Slivnitsa" boulevard.

From Today Sofia Implements Low-Emission Zone to Combat Air Pollution

Sofia Municipality has initiated a Low-emission Zone (LEZ) within the city's downtown area, effective until February 29, 2024, as announced by the municipality's press center. Encompassing the small ring, the zone includes key thoroughfares like Vasil Levski, Patriarch Evtimiy, and Slivnitsa boulevards, as well as Gen. Skobelev and Opalchenska streets. NGOs lambast planned environmental law changes

Ljubljana – Environmental NGOs warn that proposed changes to the environmental protection and spatial planning acts would exclude them from key relevant procedures and scrap legislative safeguards. Without the latter an irreparable damage could be caused regarding the environment and public health, they said Tuesday.
