Equinox

Today, as the world turns, it heralds the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The vernal equinox, an astronomical event signaling the onset of this vibrant season, graces our calendars once again. According to a report by BTA, this celestial occurrence aligns the Earth's axis and orbit in such a way that both hemispheres bask in equal sunlight.

At 05:49 am, the astronomical spring began in Bulgaria.

The sun, in its apparent movement in the ecliptic, crosses the spring equatorial point, and from the southern hemisphere passes into the north. This is also one of the two days of the year where the day and night are approximately equal in duration.

At 10:50 am is the autumn equinox and the astronomical autumn begins. In the morning, most of the country will be mostly sunny, but from the west, clouds will increase and thicken. We can expect occasional rainfalls in the evening.

On Friday, at 18:54, the astronomical summer will take place. The Summer Solstice marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere around June 21 and around 22 December for the Southern Hemisphere.

The astronomical spring in Bulgaria this year will be on March 20 at 23:58.

İznik Municipality is organizing a festival for photo aficionados on the shore of İznik Lake from March 21 to 24 to mark March 21 Spring Equinox. Sunset photos will be shared on Instagram with the "#iznikekinoks2019 hashtag and the most liked ones will be exhibited at an exhibition on Sept. 30.

Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia will be among the 26 contenders in the Grand Final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest that takes place this Saturday in Lisbon, Portugal.

Albania is represented by the love song "Mall", sung by Eugent Bushpepa, who describes himself as a "creative professional".

Bulgaria qualified for the final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. The Equinox song Bones was among the 10 elected from the first semi-final of the competition, which this year is held in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. The five artists forming Equinox include Zhana Bergendorf, Vladimir Mihailov, Georgi Simeonov-JJ, Johnny Manuel and Trey Campbell.
