Turkey in phone diplomacy to assure 70 countries of its tourism safety
Turkey started to carry out telephone diplomacy with 70 countries to inform them about the country's health infrastructure over the pandemic, the culture and tourism minister said on May 18.
Turkey in a certification system detailed that the country is a safe place for tourism, regarding measures against COVID-19, said Mehmet Nuri Ersoy in a written statement.
Turkey expects to have tourism start in late May: Minister
Turkey expects to have domestic tourism start late May, while internationally after mid-June, the country's culture and tourism minister said on May 16.
"I hope, tourism will start with some tourism mobility domestically by May 28," said Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, speaking to broadcaster NTV.

Turkey preparing for domestic tourism
Turkey's tourism season is expected to postpone until after-May period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the country's culture and tourism minister told daily Hürriyet.
"If we don't face new problems in the course of events, domestic [tourism] traffic will start at the end of May. The tourism season will open with controlled domestic flights," said Mehmet Nuri Ersoy on April 25.

Turkey's tourism season postponed to post-May
Turkey's tourism season is expected to postpone until after-May period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the country's culture and tourism minister said on April 2.
"Hopefully, we will see that tourism activities will start again during the Ramadan Feast," Mehmet Nuri Ersoy noted.
Eid ul-Fitr, or Ramadan Feast, will be celebrated at the end of this May in 2020.

Turkey marks 99th anniversary of national anthem
Turkey marked the 99th anniversary of the İstiklal Marşı, Turkey's national anthem.
Mehmet Akif Ersoy's poem was enshrined as the national anthem by the Turkish Grand National Assembly or parliament on March 12, 1921.

Tourism advertising budget increases to $180 million
The Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry has raised its advertising budget tenfold with the establishment of a new development agency, the tourism minister said.
Turkey targets 58 mln tourists, over $40 bln revenue
Turkey hopes to attract 58 million foreign tourists and targets more than $40 billion tourism revenues this year, Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has said.
He noted that the exact figures for the full year will be released at the end of the month, but the country probably welcomed 51 million tourists and generated around $34 billion of tourism revenues in 2019.
