Protestors scuffle with police outside Finance Ministry

Protesters belonging to two public sector unions scuffled with riot police in downtown Athens on Friday morning during a rally outside the Finance Ministry.

The tension erupted after the unions demanded that a delegation be admitted into the building to wait for Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, who was not at his office at the time.

Gov't insists on offering handouts

Just a few days after the Eurogroup decision, the government is reverting to handout promises, as Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Tuesday that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has asked him to submit a study next month on alternative options for tax exemptions.

Tsakalotos to submit report on 2019 tax cuts to PM in July

Greece's finance ministry will submit a report to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in July on the tax relief measures the government will implement in 2019, totaling 700 million euros, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos said in an interview with state-run Athens-Macedonian News Agency, published on Tuesday.
