Curated by architect and museologist Erato Koutsoudaki, the exhibition "Mystery 29_ Elefsina: Raw Museum" looks at the West Attica town's important role in the ancient world, its transformation by migration in modern times and its more recent decline into an industrial wasteland, before its rebirth as the 2023 European Capital of Culture.

Nova Gorica to be 2025 European Capital of Culture

Nova Gorica – The European Capitals of Culture Expert Panel has recommended the Slovenian border city of Nova Gorica to be the European Capital of Culture 2025 along with Germany’s Chemnitz. Nova Gorica has been bidding for the title together with Gorizia on the Italian side of the border with the slogan Go! Borderless.

Decision in European Capital of Culture race expected soon

Ljubljana – All four Slovenian cities bidding to share the tittle of the 2025 European Capital of Culture with Germany’s Chemnitz have submitted their final presentations to the Culture Ministry. A jury is expected pick the winner among Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, Ptuj and Piran on 18 December.

Bulgaria's Oldest City Honored as European Capital of Culture for 2019

Plovdiv, the oldest city in Bulgaria, has been officially inaugurated as the European Capital of Culture for 2019, reported USA TODAY. 

Some 50,000 people gathered on a central square Saturday to watch the opening show dubbed "We are all colors" with 1,500 local and foreign artists on several stages.

The Program of "Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019" Starts Today

The program of "Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019" was launched, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

Over the course of an extended weekend (11 - 13 January 2019) a series of events will take place at various in- and outdoor spaces across the city. Its peak will be on Saturday, 12 January.
