The number of countries participating in the European Defense Agency (EDA) coordinated munitions collective purchase project announced a week ago has reached 24.

Among them are 23 countries from the European Union and Norway. Bulgaria does not participate.

At the end of last week, five more countries joined the original 18 countries:

Ljubljana – Defence Minister Matej Tonin took part on Tuesday in the 2021 annual conference of the European Defence Agency (EDA), which focused on innovation in the field of defence. On 7 June 2018, the European Defence Agency (EDA) and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) co-organised the conference "Military Mobility - Key to European Security" in Brussels.

Speaking at the European Defense Agency (EDA) annual conference, the EU foreign policy and defense chief said that 23 member-states have confirmed their readiness, while they would soon be joined by more.

"We are building the European Union of security and defense. It's not a plan any more. It's not a dream any more. It's reality coming true," Mogherini said in her address.

European Union countries on Monday officially launched a new era in defense cooperation with a program of joint military investment and project development aimed at helping the EU confront its security challenges.

A National Conference on Defence and Aerospace Industry and Research is taking place in Sofia under the patronage of President Rumen Radev, reported BNR.

The forum is the first of its kind within the EU and is dedicated to the new European Defence Fund whose formation is due to be voted by the European Parliament.

National Defence Minister Mircea Dusa on Monday participated in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council and in the works of the Steering Board of the European Defence Agency, on which occasion he said that, in the current security context, "the cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance is the development of military capabilities area is very important."
