The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has voiced its concerns regarding the alleged "systemic obstacles" faced by journalists in Türkiye when applying for visas to Schengen countries, calling for an end to "discriminatory practices."

The Athens Daily Newspaper Journalists' Union (ESIEA) has granted honorary membership to journalist and Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange, it announced on Thursday.

The union is participating in an initiative of the Italian journalists union FNSI, which has been adopted by the European Federation of Journalists, an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists.

Zagreb – The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has expressed solidarity with journalists working at the STA and public broadcaster RTV Slovenija as it urged the government to stop contributing to an environment in which verbal and physical harassment of journalists has become par for the course.

Brussels/Ljubljana – The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR), a coalition of press freedom organisations and journalism groups, stressed on Monday that media freedom was at risk in Slovenia. Attacks on Slovenian media take place at multiple levels, both legislative and administrative, and on social networks, the group said.

The Romanian Journalists Union launches on Friday, on its 18th anniversary, the MediaSind TV online platform, the union said in a release. "MediaSind TV, the new project to be launched today, will be an online communication platform for everyone in the big media family. MediaSind TV will be the instrument through which the voice of union members will be heard.

Media digitalisation and the independence of media organisations were among the subjects approached at the conference on Modernizing Public Service Media through Innovation and Dialogue, organized March 4 - 5 in Bucharest with the support of the European Commission, at the initiative of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), in cooperation with the Culture and Media Federation FAIR-Media

This is stated in a letter the organization, representing more than 8,000 members, has sent to the Serbian State Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac.
