2024 'increasingly likely' to be warmest on record: EU monitor

It is "increasingly likely" 2024 will be the hottest year on record, despite July ending a 13-month streak of monthly temperature records, the EU's climate monitor said Thursday.

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said last month was the second warmest on record books going back to 1940, only slightly cooler than July 2023.

Slovenia on track to becoming full member of ESA

A delegation of the European Space Agency (ESA) visiting Slovenia ahead of the vote on the country's full membership of the organisation has commended the country on the progress made since becoming an associate member in 2016.

For Slovenia to be admitted to the ESA as a full-fledged member in the December 2024 vote, a consensus of all of the agency's members will be needed.

Astronaut pens letter to Turkish girl from space

A child from the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri has ranked first in a painting competition organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) after drawing the picture of Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, receiving a letter of thanks from her.

İlknur Sinem Sezer, a fourth-grade primary school student, applied to ESA's painting contest named "Living in Space."

Türkiye to host first Int’l Space Convention

International Space Convention, one of the world's most prestigious space events, will be held for the first time in Türkiye, with the key players of the industry gathering in the northwestern province of Bursa.

The convention organized by Altair Enterprises, will be conducted in GUHEM, the space and aviation training center, between Sept. 9 and 11.

Türkiye, UAE space agencies sign cooperation deal

Türkiye's space agency (TUA) and the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the peaceful use of space and space science, technologies and applications.

The signing ceremony was held in Istanbul on July 13 where delegations from both countries gathered for an investment workshop.
