European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The EULEX police arrested employee of the Post Serbia Nebojsa Vujacic, 48, from Kosovska Mitrovica, in northern Kosovo, on suspicion that he committed the criminal acts of murder, attempted murder and infliction of grave wounds.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA – EULEX police has arrested a Serb in northern Kosovo as part of investigations into serious crimes that allegedly took place in Kosovo-Metohija after the 1999 conflict in the province.

Stanislava Pak-Stankovic, an advisor to Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, said on Thursday that a new parliamentary resolution on Kosovo was needed because "the circumstances in Serbia and the world have changed".

The changes include the establishment of a Kosovo army and the impending end of the mandate of the EU's rule-of-law mission in Kosovo, EULEX.

EU's EULEX mission in Kosovo will be extended by two years, despite resistance by the country's officials.

The Kosovo government is still consulting with European Union officials on the powers that the European rule-of-law mission will have after its mandate expires on June 14.

Arrest of two lawyers "further pressure on Serbs"

BELGRADE, ZVEČAN -- Aleksandar Vulin says the arrest of lawyers Dejan Vasić and Faruk Korenica "represents further pressure on Serbs in northern Kosovo."

The minister without portfolio in charge of Kosovo in the technical government called for their immediate release pending trial.

He visited Norway March 21-22 and met with State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Bard Glad.

PRISTINA - Head of the EULEX Mission in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Bernd Borchardt has said that there are no secret indictments in KiM, as the mechanism of secret indictments does not exist in the Kosovo legal system, adding that a democratic society has two basic principles - presumption of innocence and equality before the law.
