Bulgarian Cabinet Proposes Over 50 Euros Increase to Poverty Line for 2025

The caretaker cabinet has published a draft for public consultation, proposing an increase in the poverty line from 1 January 2025. This poverty line is a crucial indicator for developing state policies related to income and living standards and determining social protection measures, which are assessed annually. The poverty line also determines eligibility for certain social benefits.

House sale prices in Greece posted the third largest increase in the European Union in the first quarter of this year, Eurostat data showed on Thursday.

The increase reached 10.4%, behind only Poland and Bulgaria, where prices recorded an annual increase of 18% and 16% respectively.

Eurozone annual inflation was 2.5% in June from 2.6% in May, confirming analysts’ estimates, according to a flash estimate by Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office.

Bulgaria's Consumption and GDP Per Capita Among Lowest in EU for 2023

In 2023, Bulgarian households remained among the lowest in the EU for consumption of goods and services. According to Eurostat's latest data, Bulgaria's "actual individual consumption" (AIC) was 27% below the EU average, placing it at 73% of the European level. In contrast, Luxembourg's AIC was 38% above the EU average, reaching 138%.
