Breakaway MPs decide to form new parliamentary group

Eleven independent MPs who broke away from main opposition SYRIZA in recent weeks have agreed to form a new parliamentary group, the name of which will be announced on Monday. 

Chairman of the group is Alexis Haritsis, while Euclides Tsakalotos and Nasos Iliopoulos are the parliamentary representatives. Peti Perka is secretary.

Bond actress Eva Green enters UK court battle over unmade film

A lengthy legal dispute over a never-made film starring French actress Eva Green reached London's High Court on Jan. 26.
Green, who starred alongside Daniel Craig in the James Bond film "Casino Royale", is seeking payment of her acting fee for an aborted sci-fi project called "A Patriot."

Kaili sees daughter for the first time

Eva Kaili, a former vice president and member of the European Parliament who is facing corruption charges in Brussels over her role in what has been dubbed Qatargate, saw her daughter for the first time on Friday since she was remanded in custody last month.

The Greek politician's 22-month-old daughter was brought to the Haren prison in Brussels by her father, Alexandros Kailis.

Goulandris Museum holding charity auction of art inspired by Kathimerini

The Goulandris Museum of Modern Art will be holding a silent auction on Tuesday of work by acclaimed Greek artists who were inspired by Kathimerini.

The auction will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the new museum's Pangrati premises, with proceeds from the sale going in aid of the Food Bank, an initiative of the Foundation for the Eradication of Hunger and Waste.

New government officials sworn in after mini-reshuffle

Six new members of the cabinet were sworn in at the Presidential Mansion on Thursday after a mini-reshuffle that was prompted by the resignation of two ministers earlier this week.

Ioannis Dragasakis, formerly the deputy prime minister, was sworn in as economy minister, taking over from Dimitris Papadimitriou, who resigned on Tuesday.
