Owner of Turkey’s low-cost Pegasus Airlines, wife, seriously hurt in boat crash off Leros

Ali Sabanci, the chairman of the company that owns Turkey's low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines, was injured in a boat accident while vacationing in Greece, the company said Friday. His wife, businesswoman Vuslat Dogan Sabanci, was also injured.

A statement from Esas Holding did not provide details on their conditions but media reports said the two were seriously hurt.

Turkish billionaire Şevket Sabancı dies at 85

Şevket Sabancı, a billionaire member of Turkey's Sabancı family, died at the age of 85, local media reported on July 22.

He was one of the four sons of Hacı Ömer Sabancı, the founder of companies that later formed Sabancı Holding, Turkey's second-largest industrial group.

Şevket Sabancı was the deputy chairman of Sabancı Holding until 2004.

Sakıp Sabancı International Research Award issues call for papers

The Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards has started collecting essays for its 2017 competition. 

The team of this year's awards, distributed in honor of the late Sakıp Sabancı, honorary chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sabancı University, is "Europeans with Legacies from Turkey in Everyday Life," officials said in a statement on Sept. 27.
