Voter turnout hit an historic low in Sunday's election, with 47.18% of voters opting to stay away from the ballot box, the highest abstention rate since the fall of the military junta in 1974, if not before.

Greek demographics: An aging and over-the-hill population
Mainland Greece is aging alarmingly - faster than even the most dire predictions of demographers. One in three residents of the Prefectures of Arta and Evrytania is currently over 65 years old, a percentage that was expected in 2050, while in eleven prefectures of the country with a total population of 828,000 people one in four is elderly.

Storm 'Penelope' brings floods and landslides in central, southern Greece
The arrival of a storm system dubbed Penelope has brought gusty winds, intense rainfall and flooding in several parts of Greece.
So far, the weather system has mainly affected central regions and the Peloponnese, with the biggest problems recorded at the mountainous region of Agrafa, in the regional unit of Evrytania.

Amazing Evrytania from above (drone footage)

14 Greek students put in EU building cafe for safety reasons (photos+video)
14 Greek senior high school students and their two escorts from Evritania, who were visiting the EU Parliament building in Brussels on an excursion, have been transferred to a cafeteria on the promises for their safety by Belgian authorities.
