Education Ministry included “Fake News” column in official site!

The Greek Education Ministry has added a new category in its official site titled “Fake News”. This includes news, information, publications, statements related to education matters published in electronic and print media that the Ministry deems to be either contains inaccurate news or is invalid.

Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Maria Gabriel, launched a public consultation and announced the creation of a high-level expert group on fake news.

This took place at a special conference in Brussels with the participation of stakeholders.

The European Union has launched public consultations on "fake news" and online disinformation, and will also set up a group of experts in an effort to map out an EU strategy for tackling these threats by the spring of 2018.

"Fake News" is the Phrase of the Year

The term "fake news" is quite logically declared the phrase of the year by the British dictionary of English language Collins. Experts have reported that the use of the phrase has increased by as much as 365% in 2016, writes the Guardian. This is largely due to US President Donald Trump and the frequent use of the phrase by him.
