Crew with first astronaut from Turkey set for launch to space station
A fighter pilot poised to become Turkey's first person in orbit and three other astronauts representing Europe were set for launch on Thursday headed for the International Space Station in the latest commercially arranged mission from Texas startup Axiom Space.

The high-altitude chase started over Cape Canaveral in Florida on February 17, 2023, when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched. Thomas Parent, a NASA research pilot, was flying a WB-57 jet when the rocket ascended past the right wing - leaving him mesmerized before he hit the throttle to accelerate.

Turkey to launch Turksat 5B communications satellite in Dec
Turkey will launch its Turksat 5B communications satellite into orbit next month, a senior official said on Nov. 24.
"One of the prominent features of Turksat 5B, which will be launched into an orbital slot at 42 degrees East, is to increase Turkey's Ka-band data communication capacity 15-fold," Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said in a statement.

Turkish engineer accuses Elon Musk of slavery in SpaceX rocket project
A Turkish engineer, who worked at American space transportation company SpaceX's first rocket project Falcon-1, accused the company owner, billionaire tycoon Elon Musk of forcing them to work as "slaves."
"We were left alone on an island. He [Elon Musk] made us work like slaves," Bülent Altan said in a book called "Lift-off," describing his early days in the company.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said he and Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk have discussed potential joint space projects, recalling the two had already partnered in launching Turkey's Türksat 5A communication satellite in early January.

SpaceX launched a Turkish communications satellite into orbit late on Jan. 7.
The technology company's Falcon 9 rocket launched from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in the U.S. state of Florida, carrying the Turksat 5A satellite.
