Mehmed the Conqueror’s medal set for auction in London
A bronze medal featuring a portrait thought to be dating back to the princehood era of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II will go up for auction in London, Bonhams Auction House in England has announced.
The medal, which showcases a portrait believed to be from Mehmed II's princehood era, will be auctioned in London by Bonhams Auction House.

Five hundred and seventy years after the Fall of Constantinople, Recep Tayyip Erdogan chose the Hagia Sophia to celebrate the anniversary and his own victory in Sunday's elections. Türkiye on May 29 has marked the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul on its 570th anniversary with a series of events in the Turkish metropole.
Istanbul was besieged 28 times throughout history before its conquest in 1453 by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II.

Medallion with Sultan Mehmet II’s portrait returning to country
The Istanbul Municipality has brought the medallion depicting portraits of Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II made by Italian artist Costanza de Ferrara in 1481 from the U.K. to the country.
The municipality earlier purchased the medallion for 38,000 pounds at an auction in London.
