Istanbul basketball giant and Euro League final runner-up Fenerbahçe have booked tickets for the Turkish Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, eliminating archrival Galatasaray Odeabank in the semi-final series late on May 31.

Be?ikta? fans hit the streets in Istanbul and many other Turkish cities late on May 9, as the team is now on course to take their first Turkish Super League title since 2009 after sole challenger and rival Fenerbahçe slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat to Medipol Ba?ak?ehir.

Turkish Super League leader Be?ikta? will take on Kayserispor on April 30 at its new home with the hopes of avoiding any more slip-ups in the title run-in.

The Istanbul side is feeling the heat from rival Fenerbahçe after last week's draw with Aknisar Belediyespor, which it only achieved thanks to a last-minute goal by Cenk Tosun on April 23.

Be?ikta? midfielder Necip Uysal, a product of the football club's youth academy, has been granted the 2015 Best Player Behavior Award by the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK). 

The incident that brought him the award took place during a pre-match ceremony of the Istanbul derby between Be?ikta? and Fenerbahçe on April 4, 2015.  

It was not game fever but violence that marked Turkish football over the weekend, with an assistant referee being attacked by a fan during a top-tier game between Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor, while executives of Amedspor were also beaten by a mob in the capital after a game against Ankaragücü.  

The Turkish Spor Toto Super League match between Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor late on April 24 was abandoned in the 89th minute after Trabzonspor fans stormed on to the pitch and attacked an official.

Istanbul side Fenerbahçe, who is second in the standings, was leading 4-0 after goals by Alper Potuk, Volkan ?en, Luis Nani and Robin van Persie. 

The popular Simon Kuper book, "Football Against the Enemy," was an analysis of the football-politics relationship and published in the U.K. in 1994. This study became a "cult book" in a short time and was translated into Turkish in 1996 and has been reprinted several times.

Two Istanbul club racing for the championship trophy in the Spor Toto Super League failed to beat their opponents in Week 27 games.

League leader Be?ikta? lost 2-1 to Kas?mpa?a on April 4, one day after its closest rival, Fenerbahçe, was held to a goalless draw at home by Osmanl?spor.

The derby between the Istanbul-based football clubs of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday evening, has been postponed due to security concerns.

The postponement of the match comes a day after a suicide attack in Istanbul claimed the lives of five people, including the perpetrator and left 36 other injured.

Spor Toto Super League title hopeful Fenerbahçe will travel to Galatasaray on March 20 for an Istanbul derby which will be crucial in the race for the trophy, following a disappointing night on the European stage.
