Russian tourist dies in parachute accident in Turkey's Fethiye

A Russian tourist died on May 5 in a parachute accident in the Aegean resort of Fethiye, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The 26-year-old Anastasia Zakharova came to Fethiye for both vacation and parachute training. She climbed to the Babadağ Mountain at around 10:30 a.m. and made a solo jump from the 1,700 meter court.

Fethiye's ancient tombs cleaned up

The 2,400 year-old tombs surrounded by garbage and weeds in the ancient city of Telmessos in the touristic southwestern province of Mu?la's Fethiye district have been cleaned up after negative reactions. 

As part of the clean-up, two trucks of garbage were removed by the Fethiye Museum Directorate and the Fethiye Municipality.

One migrant dead, two missing in capsized boat in Aegean Sea

At least one person has died and two others are missing after a boat carrying refugees sank on Oct. 27 in the Aegean Sea, off the Turkish province of ?zmir.

The Turkish Coast Guard on Oct. 28 said 42 people were rescued from the sea soon after the incident off the resort town of Çe?me. It also said a search and rescue operation was underway to find two missing refugees. 

Police officer killed when armored vehicle's firearm discharges accidentally

A police officer has died after the firearm of an armored vehicle discharged accidentally, fatally wounding the officer in Turkey?s southeastern province of Diyarbak?r. 

The accident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Oct.11 in Diyarbak?r?s Ergani district, where police officer Özgür Gümü? was on duty on an armored vehicle.

Seed bartering festival in ?zmir aims to revive local planting richness

A seed bartering festival will take place in the Urla district of Turkey?s ?zmir province in October, aimed at protecting and reviving endangered seeds and enriching the natural wealth of the region.

The festival will be held on Oct. 4 in the Malgaca market square, giving attendees the chance to exchange local seeds.
