Lawyer gunned down in Istanbul

A 42-year-old Turkish lawyer was shot to death in Istanbul by two assailants late on Jan. 26 following a fight that reportedly broke out over money.

According to police sources, the two men met with Şafak Mahmutyazıcıoğlu at a restaurant he owned in the Yeşilköy neighborhood to discuss a property sale with him and one of his clients.

UK Ambassador to Turkey becomes Beşiktaş member

U.K. Ambassador to Ankara, Richard Moore, a dedicated Beşiktaş fan, has become an official member of the club, according to a statement on the Black Eagle's official website on Sept. 21.

Beşiktaş Chairman Fikret Orman presented the top British diplomat in the country with his club card for membership to the Beşiktaş General Assembly.

Real defender Pepe set to join Beşiktaş

Portuguese international Pepe has signed for Beşiktaş, the Turkish champion announced on July 4, bringing an end to 10 incident-packed years with Spanish giant Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old Brazilian-born defender Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira joined Real from Porto in 2007 for 30 million euros ($34 million), winning the La Liga title in his first campaign.  

Vodafone tests Turkey's domestic 4.5G base station

Vodafone tested Turkish 4.5G-compatible domestic base  station, dubbed ULAK, the company has said.

According to a statement by the company on April 14, Vodafone Turkey's deputy CEO Hasan Süel and Besiktaş Chairman Fikret Orman had a phone call ahead of the Europa League quarter final match between Beşiktaş and French club Olympique Lyon.
