13 Slovenian films to return to Slovenia from Belgrade
Ljubljana – The government has approved a draft contract on the basis of which 13 Slovenian feature films currently kept at the Yugoslav Cinematheque in Belgrade, Serbia, including the first Slovenian feature sound film from 1948 On Our Own Land, will return to Slovenia.
Iconic movie theater Alkazar reopens
The Alkazar Movie Theater, one of Beyoğlu's symbolic venues, has reopened its doors with the new name "Hope Alkazar" on the last day of the Beyoğlu Culture Road Festival.
Speaking about the Alkazar Movie Theater and its 100-year-old history at the opening ceremony, Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Ahmet Misbah Demircan said a very beautiful structure emerged after the restoration.

Somalia’s Khadar Ahmed wins top prize at Fespaco film fest
Somali film-maker Khadar Ahmed won the top prize at the Fespaco film festival in Burkina Faso on Oct. 23 for "The Gravedigger's Wife", which he wrote and directed.
The 40-year-old was not at the ceremony to receive the Golden Stallion award, but his work beat 16 other African films to the top prize. The films in competition were made by directors from 15 different African countries.
Penelope Cruz wins best actress in Venice
Penelope Cruz took home the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival, the latest success for the all-conquering queen of Spanish cinema.
Cruz won for her starring role in "Parallel Mothers", her latest collaboration with legendary Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.

Cinematheque to show Marc Recha, Abbas Kiarostami in new season
Ljubljana – The Slovenian Cinematheque is entering a new season with great panache, not just when it comes to its film programme but also in relation to its exhibition venue and publishing and preservation efforts. The pinnacle of the new season will be films by Catalan Spanish filmmaker Marc Recha and Iranian master Abbas Kiarostami.
Serbian film wins top prize at Czech festival
"As Far As I Can Walk," a film by Serbian director Stefan Arsenjevic, won the Crystal Globe award at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic ending late on Aug. 28, organizers said.

The film co-produced by Serbia, France, Luxembourg, Bulgaria and Lithuania tells the story of two African migrants in Serbia.

Films set in pandemic to open Sarajevo Film Festival
