Greece not part of EU program for tackling fires
The European Commission on Tuesday inaugurated its first fleet of firefighting aircraft under a new program dubbed rescEU aimed at enlisting the help of member-states to respond to wildfires and other natural disasters without the participation of Greece.

The EC Creates an Air Fleet to Combat Fires
The reason is the risk of forest fires during the summer, reported NOVA TV.
In order to prepare for forest fire risk, the Commission announced the first fleet of firefighting aircraft under the new rescEU system to deal with natural disasters in the coming summer.

Hospitals workers raise alarm about inadequate fire safety
Most hospitals in Greece are not adequately protected against fires, according to the national union of public hospital workers, POEDIN.
In a statement on Monday, POEDIN said that just 10 hospitals have fire safety certificates, and that even in those cases there are areas of the hospitals not covered by the safety certificates.

Fire Broke out at a School in Rousse
A fire broke out in the building of the Secondary School "Vazrazhdane" in Rousse.
The flames triggered the building's alarm system. A private security agency responsible for security at the school has arrived on the spot, and law enforcement officials were also called.

Wildfire put out in Kassandra forest
A wildfire in a pine forest near the Aghia Paraskevi area on the Kassandra leg of northern Greece's Halkidiki peninsula was brought under control on Saturday, the fire service said.
The fire led to the deployment of 40 firemen, two water-dropping aircraft and 10 fire engines, authorities said.
