Bulgarian PM Slightly Lifts Veil On GERB's Presidential Candidate

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov slightly lifted the veil on his party's candidate for the forthcoming presidential elections which are scheduled to take place in the autumn.

However rather than naming any of the possible candidates, Borisov pointed to those who will not run in the elections.

Lyubomir Hristov, the deputy mayor of the Bulgarian capital responsible for transport, has submitted his resignation to Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

Irina Kotseva, MP from the ruling GERB party, is also to submit her resignation, the chairperson of the party's parliamentary group Tsvetan Tsvetanov is quoted as saying by daily Sega.

The Bulgarian parliament is expected to dissolve the recently established ad hoc committee of inquiry on allegations of Russian and Turkish interference in the internal affairs of Bulgaria.

Bulgaria's PM Says He Is 'Preparing for War'

The main ruling GERB party is "already at war", Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Saturday told the party's youth wing at a meeting in Southwestern Bulgaria.

He didn't explicitly refer to the "opponent" GERB is in war with, but hinted he was referring either to organized crime or to those political opponents trying to discredit him.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Friday made clear he would not be a presidential candidate in the forthcoming election this autumn.

He told the Bulgarian National Television's Friday night talkshown Panorama he was determined to avoid a scenario where he would run for President and trigger early parliamentary elections.
