Turkey's seasonal fishing ban to end on Sept 1
Turkey's seasonal fishing season will kick off on Sept. 1 after a five-month ban, as fishermen hope for a fruitful season and a dramatic drop in fish prices in the new season.
Speaking to state-run Anadolu Agency on Aug. 30, sector representatives said they were hopeful about the new season and expected at least 50 percent drop in fish prices.

Aquarist bitten by thornback ray dismissed from job in Istanbul
An aquarist who was bitten by a thornback ray in an aquarium was dismissed from his job in a shopping mall in Istanbul.
Şener Avşar, 30, who graduated from the faculty of aquaculture started to work as an aquarist in January for a shopping mall that hosted huge aquariums.
Piranhas seen in Turkish waters
Examinations have started after amateur fishermen caught piranhas in the Kızılırmak River for the third time in the last 20 days.
Three separate amateur fishermen caught piranhas, which are indigenous to the Amazon basin, in Kızılırmak, running through the city center of the Central Anatolian province of Sivas.

In the clip, taken off the coast of Long Island in New York state, fisherman look on in horror as the mako shark writhes around on the deck of the boat with its body trapped beneath the guard-rail.
