Black Sea fishermen wrap up season ahead of time
Fishermen in the Black Sea Region have ceased their activities more than 20 days prior to the onset of the fishing ban, citing inadequate fish sizes as the primary reason.
Casting their nets into the azure waters on Sept. 1, 2023, fishermen in the country's north opted to halt fishing before the season's natural end and started to prepare their vessels for the next season.

Search for missing fisherman continues
The emergency services in the north of the country are continuing their search for 75-year-old fisherman who was reported missing after failing to return from a fishing trip on a lake.
Firefighters Ptolemaida and Edessa are already at the scene at Lake Vegoritida while a team of divers are expected to arrive from Thessaloniki.

Amorgos’ pioneering fishermen
Fishermen from the island of Amorgos, the easternmost of the Cyclades, are calling for the establishment of three marine areas where fishing will be banned, as well as a 1.5-nautical mile zone around the island where the ban would apply in April and May - the breeding months for most fish species.

Pearl mullet hunting ban lifted after three months
The three-month hunting ban, which was initiated during the breeding period of the pearl mullet, an endemic fish species residing in Lake Van, has ended.
Within the scope of the annual hunting ban for pearl mullet which started on April 15, intensive measures were taken to prevent poaching.

The annual fishing ban is set to begin on April 15 and will continue till Sept 1, as fishermen who have already anchored their boats start preparations for the forthcoming season, repairing ripped nets and carrying out boat maintenance.

Diver in Santa Claus outfit collects plastic fish
A member of Derindere Respect Diving Group, who wanted to protest the fishing in the Bosporus and draw attention to the pollution in the seas, took plastic fish out of the sea by diving in a Santa Claus outfit.
The diver wearing a Santa Claus outfit collected plastic fish from the bottom of the sea to raise awareness about the sea pollution and fishing policies in the Bosporus.

Foreign Fishermen Keep Albania’s Fleet Afloat
Ebif is not alone. More than hundred other foreigners like him have found work on the country's small fishing fleet, whose owners say local youngsters are unwilling to engage in the profession.
Mostly from Egypt and Turkey, they tend to replace the local fishermen when they retire.
