President Iohannis: Our flag represents a cementer of the past, present and future

President Klaus Iohannis conveyed on Wednesday a message on the occasion of the National Flag Day, in which he shows that the tricolour represents a cementer of the past, present and future. "Today, we are celebrating the National Flag Day, which, for more than 170 years has represented, for the Romanians everywhere, a symbol of our national identity, independence, sovereignty and unity.

New Zealand begins final vote on whether to change its flag

New Zealanders have begun a final vote on whether to change their flag from a design which features the British Union Jack to one which features a native silver fern.

A postal ballot began March 3 and will extend over the next three weeks, with preliminary results to be announced March 24.

New Zealand Presents Forty Alternative Designs for New Flag

The government of New Zealand presented a long list of forty alternative flag designs, which will be competing to become the new banner of the country.

The Flag Consideration Project foresees the holding of two referendums, which will determine whether New Zealand will keep its current banner or choose one of the alternative flag designs.

Suspect in flag removal case arrested

Ö.M., the suspect in the case regarding the Turkish flag being taken down, was arrested Aug. 10 after a police raid in the Lice town of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır earlier in the day.

The 34-year-old had removed a flag inside a military post in Diyarbakır during a demonstration against the killing of two people in the clashes with the armed forces on June 7.
